We’ll help you find the perfect floor for your project.
Every space is different, which is why we have partnered with top international brands to bring you an extensive range of timber and wood-look flooring solutions suited to New Zealand’s diverse climates and lifestyles.
The latest innovation in wood-look flooring has made realism less of a distinguishing factor between products. We asked 750 Kiwi Architects & Interior Designers; none could tell the difference between our real timber flooring and our alternatives.
Three things to consider that will ensure you purchase the best product for your lifestyle, achieve the look you want and will stand the test of time.
Consider if the floor is going to be exposed to direct sunlight every day, or in a wet area such as a bathroom, laundry, or kitchen. Some flooring types will fade under regular UV light and others will swell in water.
Account for the wear your floor must sustain and the traffic it will receive. Pets or children are likely to cause damage to the soft surface of a genuine wood floor. High traffic areas benefit from hard wearing flooring products.
There are options that suit most budgets for every type of flooring product. However, genuine wood floors are typically at the higher end of the market. Sheet vinyl can be more affordable and is often recommended for rental properties for its extreme durability.
Not all flooring products are equal
The natural beauty of variation can only be achieved with a real timber floor. Two boards are never the same. Timber will wear and change over time as the floor is lived on and exposed to light.
Laminate is often considered a better choice over timber flooring for its durability; the surface features a hard protective top layer. These long 1.8m planks feature huge variation in wood patterns and a beautiful ‘embossed-in-register’ surface for an authentic wood feel.
